First of all - thanks to all those who have already stopped by the blog, left comments, emailed me, or otherwise shown support for the idea. Wow!
The main point that has been raised so far is the issue of male attendees. Men are certainly allowed - and encouraged! - to come along to the dinners, all we ask is that you come at the invitation of a girl geek. Every girl geek can bring one friend with them. Remember also that it doesn't have to be your partner or significant other, it can be a friend, workmate or anyone else who you think will enjoy the event.
Additionally, if there is anyone (of either gender!) out there who has something interesting to speak about, or who can help us out with some sponsorship, I'd love to hear from you!
In the meantime, keep checking back here, and letting me know about your ideas. I'll be posting information about our inaugural dinner here very soon.
Why not jump along and check out our introduction on the Girl Geek Dinners website?

oh, another thing, perhaps it is worthwhile posting an article on whirlpool.net, maybe you will find some others who aren't in WIC's membership.
Linkedin may also provide some info as well, as well as Click! recruiting, Jan wills may know of a few geek girls who might be interested.
Peter - you are a veritable font of information! Thanks, I'll follow those up.

i don't just post on RA. I work for a ICT distributor, and may be able to get the word out. email me if you need any assistance.
Peter, mostly I want to get the word out right now, but I'm also interested in hearing from potential speakers and sponsors. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. My email address is loquacities (at) gmail (dot) com.

Depending upon the date of the actual dinner, I'm happy to announce it at the upcoming Canberra Web Standards Group meeting on the 4th of February (http://webstandardsgroup.org/event/162).
I would love to coem if it's a time place I can do :)
Ruth - that would be great! Thanks! I should be able to post a date very shortly, but at this stage I'm looking at late Feb/early March.

You gals need a Facebook page for Canberra as there are for other cities.
Anon - it's all in the works! Keep checking back and I'll post details as soon I have them.

I'm definitely interested. What are views on transgenders coming along?
Weibchenwolf - if you identify as female, then we're happy to have you along! Just pop an RSVP in the top post for me so I can track numbers. Thanks!

I'll be there plus 1 male friend.
